On our last meeting of 2019, members of Poole Men's Shed each donated a food item for a buffet lunch. It was much enjoyed! A very good time was had by all at the Poole Men's Shed Christmas Party held at the "Bridge House", Longham.
Entertainment was supplied by the handbell ringing group "Clapper Chaos". We had a very good turnout for the winter walk, glorious sunshine (as ordered) was a welcome respite from the rain. We started from Ham Common & walked through the nature reserve which was a bit muddy & wet, assisting each other along the way & all arrived safely at Lake pier. Travelling on & taking in some of the local sights - cannon balls in the wall of a cottage, reputed to have been made in the foundries of Poole & recovered from the harbour. Also, a mini Stonehenge in a garden along the way. We ended the walk at a pub on Poole Quay for a very enjoyable lunch.
A very entertaining afternoon was had by all at the annual skittles match held between Poole Men's Shed and Wareham Area Men's Shed. All the important prizes were won by Wareham! Poole were very grateful to take home the booby prizes.
" I turn my back for one minute and you have devoured three main courses. No more shed lunches for you."
Poole Men's Shed had a very enjoyable day at Poole Park. The weather was good (apart from a few very brief showers), and the organisation by the Poole Park Life Project was superb. As usual, our "Splat the Rat" game was very popular.
During a visit to "Shedfest" on the Isle of Wight the object/tool pictured below caused much discussion as to its usage. Can you identify it? If so, email us at [email protected]
At the pow wow. Rob was the only cowboy on the reservation. How did he manage to get that mask and guns at such short notice?
Thanks to Jeff for arranging this month's lunch club at Cobham club. Alan was on the TP diet so had to limit himself to Two Puddings. Don't let Anita know!
Several shed members arrived at our Limelights base to help cut a hole in our garage wall and install a new door into the compound area where our new shed building will eventually reside.
There was a good attendance to our "Founders Dinner"capped by a beautiful cake created by "Lindy Lou".

Poole Men's Shed were asked by Toni Powell, part of the team putting The Lottery Funding Award for Poole Park into operation, to make chalk boards to hang outside the refurbished information centre. Pictures show John Dimmock making the boards, Eddie fixing hooks & Toni Powell really pleased with boards!
The Poole Men's Shed AGM was well attended with 28 members present. Very nice refreshments were provided afterwards by our Secretary.
The container arrived today. It arrived on a great big lorry & we were all curious to see how the driver was going to crane it over the fence & into the position where we wanted it. I must admit there were a few of us who didn't think he would be able to do it, but we were proved wrong & he made it look very easy, which I'm sure it wasn't. We can now start to fill it !!!
Members enjoyed an exciting day out firstly at High Mead farm.
In the afternoon we experienced the Record breaking Flying Scotsman as it chuffed past Baiter park. Twelve members enjoyed a morning touring the RNLI training centre in Poole.
This was followed by the lunch club enjoying an excellent value for money meal in the centre's restaurant. Pictures of the Arne peninsular walk today Sat 23.2.19. We had a good turnout of shed men & partners for the walk in beautiful surroundings, with stunning views. The weather was kind to us & we had a mild sunny day. We only had a minor hiccup while walking along the beach, the tide was somewhat higher than realized & we had to negotiate a tree stump which was blocking our route, thankfully we all climbed safely over with a little help from each other. We ended the walk in the RSPB cafe & gift shop for refreshments & a well earned rest.
Poole Men's Shed led the Lantern Parade again this year. The shed men were dressed as snowmen carrying umbrellas protecting them from a "snowstorm". This was well organised by shed member Peter Dryden. All the children had lovely homemade lanterns & everyone enjoyed mince pies at the carol singing outside Poole Guildhall. The event was a great success. Thanks to all our volunteer snowmen.
On a windy and slightly wet evening a Nativity Play was performed in and around Poole Quay, ending up at St. James' Church. Poole Men's Shed were asked to provide a flock of 12 sheep!
Poole Mayor Sean Gabriel joined Santa in his new sleigh to be transported through the Poole streets to Falkland Square. His sleigh was constructed for the Poole B.I.D. team by members of Poole Men's Shed. Ray Moore and his team of Poole Men's Shed Elves designed and constructed Santa's new sleigh.
